Boyd Vaziri, MD, FAAO

Boyd VaziriOriginally from the "Windy City" Chicago, Illinois, Boyd Vaziri, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist focusing on comprehensive eye care as well as the medical and surgical management of eye disease. His areas of surgical focus include sutureless pain-free cataract surgery, including the AcrySof ReSTOR® multifocal lens for independence from glasses and the AcrySof® Toric lens for correction of astigmatism. He is also versatile in the practice of custom astigmatism correction with the use of limbal relaxing incisions. He also performs eyelid surgery such as blepharoplasty (eyelid lift), ectropion and entropion repair (outward and inward turned eyelids), and eyelid lesion excision and repair. He is a BOTOX certified physician for both cosmetic and functional purposes. He performs laser eye surgery for diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma and is a LASIK surgeon trained on the Allegretto WaveLight®, IntraLase®, and Zyoptix® laser platforms and the Hansatome® microkeratome. Dr. Vaziri strives to provide personalized and attentive care to each and every one of his patients.

A graduate of Northwestern University, Dr. Vaziri was formerly an investment banker with JP Morgan Chase and a management consultant with a strategic pharmaceutical consulting firm (both in Chicago) before deciding on pursuing his ultimate dream of becoming a physician. He attended Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, and then joined the Department of Ophthalmology at Indiana University, Indianapolis, for his four year accredited ophthalmology residency. While in Indianapolis, he was trained extensively in state of the art medical and surgical eye care while working at the second largest health organization in the United States with two Level One Trauma Centers. In the summer of 2005, Dr. Vaziri joined Digby Eye Associates and is on the medical staff of Moses Cone, High Point Regional, and Wesley Long Hospitals. He has written ocular health articles for the News & Record, is a frequent guest on WMFR's "Regional Health Talk" with Max Meeks (1230 AM), and participates in a number of free health screenings and fairs in the Triad.

Dr. Vaziri has conducted and contributed original research papers to scholarly publications such as the Journal of Refractive Surgery, and has presented novel therapeutic concepts at The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) meeting held annually in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Vaziri is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the North Carolina Medical Society, the Triad Ophthalmology Society and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Vaziri cherishes his time with his wife Kim and two young sons, Connor and Chase, while away from work. They enjoy hiking, tennis and family traveling. The Vaziri's have enjoyed making North Carolina their new home and feel blessed to live in such a beautiful and diverse state.
